Poetry Treasures – ‘Danger, Construction Ahead’ by Kay Sage (1898-1963) The Barren Land and Death stalked us before our project began. The sky looks down upon us not with pity, but gratitude. She wept as we worked; she cried as we built; she screamed as we shout. The sky was glad she didnt have to see this emptyness anymore. The road, glorious in all its beauty, stretched from the towers of work, to the cliffs of the world. Before our work, an insignifcant spec like us would never make it to the other world. Now, that this glorious road pointed towards our future, we could leave the towers of work and begin our life anew. The sky wept, with glee as we walked; The sky screamed with joy as the lightning applauded us. The sky covered our heads as we headed for our life anew.
