Police: Chesterton man pushed woman out of second-story window CHESTERTON | A 32-year-old Chesterton man was jailed Wednesday after police said he pushed his girlfriend out a second-story window. Jason Monson was charged with domestic battery, a Class D Felony. According to a police report, the victim said she and Monson had been to a bar in Portage and then to a bar in Chesterton. The woman said the two returned to their apartment, but that Monson said he wanted to go back to the bar in Chesterton. The woman said she went into their apartment, locked the door and went into the bathroom. She then heard pounding on the front door, and someone forcing it open. The woman said Monson then confronted her in the bathroom, grabbed her throat and forced her to the floor. She told police he was angry that she locked him out of the apartment. After telling him she was sorry, he let her go and left the bathroom. The woman told police she then went to a second-floor bedroom, opened the window and removed the screen, so she could leave. She told police she had one foot out the window when Monson ran into the bedroom and pushed her out of the window and she landed flat on her back. She said she remained the ground for a short time and then was able to get up and run away. Police located her about two blocks from the apartment. She said she had back and knee pain and was taken to Porter Regional Hospital. She was not seriously injured. Police found Monson near the apartment and arrested him.
