Police Department Daily Blotter-Tuesday, July 01, 2014 • 1007: 911 call was determined to be an accidental dial. • 1014: A caller at 26 mile Haines Highway reported a moose calf stuck on a sand bar and unable to join the cow due to heavy current. AST was advised and advised that nature will take its course. • 1136: A caller reported a vehicle parked in the handicap parking zone on Main Street. The caller later advised the vehicle had been moved. • 1210: A protective order was served on a male inmate of Haines Rural Jail. • 1530: A male caller reported electronic device and software was stolen from his backpack while left unattended at Tlingit park. A case was initiated. • 1536: A caller requested a welfare check on a male relative that she suspected might want to harm himself. Police responded and found the male to be upset but not wanting to do himself harm. • 1931: A fire alarm at a local housing residence on 3rd avenue was determined by occupants to be not a fire but someone had burned food while cooking. • 2241: A pedestrian reported an unknown person in a dark blue truck had thrown a lit firecracker at him while he was walking on Small Tracts Rd. Police were unable to locate the vehicle described. • Medical Calls: 0 • Canine Calls: 1 • Traffic Stops:1 at 5 mile Lutak Rd resulting in a verbal warning for excess speed.
