Police are appealing for information after a barman was assaulted during the armed robbery of a hotel at Broken Hill last night. About 10pm, (Sunday 3 August 2014), a 36-year-old man was working in the hotel on Patton Street when a man wearing a balaclava entered the bar. Police have been told the man produced a knife and demanded money from the register. He was handed cash before punching the barman in the head and fleeing the scene. The barman was knocked to the ground and lost consciousness during the assault. He later contacted emergency services who attended the scene. He was examined by paramedics but did not require any hospital treatment. Police from Barrier Local Area Command attended the hotel and established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.
