Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an attempted armed robbery in Sydney’s west yesterday evening. Just before 8pm (Saturday 27 September 2014), a man entered a supermarket on Merrylands Road, Merrylands, and threatened three employees with a firearm. The offender ran from the location empty-handed and was last seen running towards Coolibah Street. Not shots were fired during the incident and there were no reports of injury. Police from Holroyd LAC - NSW Police Force were alerted to the incident and conducted a number of patrols in the area, but the offender could not be located. A crime scene was established at the location and detectives continue to make inquiries. The man has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid 20s, and about 183cm tall. He was last seen wearing dark-coloured clothing. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward.
