Police arraign man, 25, for alleged breach of peace The police in Ogun on Monday arraigned Owoojo Afeez in a magistrates’ court in Ota for alleged breach of peace. Afeez, 25, who lives at No. 32, Oretade Street, Itele Awori in Ota, is standing trial on a two-count charge of breach of peace and assault. The prosecutor, Insp Olajide Michael, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 28 at Itele Awori, near Ota. Michael said the accused behaved in a manner that was likely to cause breach of peace and disturb the activities of St. Ebenezer Christ Apostolic Church. He said the accused assaulted Cpl. Fasedin Oluwaseun with number F/No 359954 and caused him bodily injury by using a plank to hit him on the head. The prosecutor added that the corporal was still in hospital receiving treatment from the injury sustained. The offence contravened the provisions of Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap 29, Vol. I Revised Law of Ogun, 2006, he said. However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case to Feb. 10 for consideration of bail. February 03, 2014 at 04:05PM
