Police have arrested two men and seized a firearm following an investigation into a string of armed robberies in Sydney earlier this year. Detectives from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit formed Strike Force Endemic to investigate the incidents which occurred between March and May this year. The robberies occurred at a liquor shop in Roselands; a post office in North Revesby; and at a Chipping Norton newsagency. During the newsagent robbery, the shop owner was allegedly struck in the head with a shortened firearm. Following their lengthy investigation, strike force police today (Wednesday 9 July) arrested two men, aged 22 and 23. Detectives today also raided homes on Alderson Avenue in Liverpool; Urana Street in Villawood; and Riddell Crescent in Blackett. Police will allege they found a shortened firearm during one of the search warrants. It has been seized for forensic analysis. The two men have been charged with a range of offences including, robbery armed with an dangerous weapon with wounding and armed robbery with an offensive weapon. They have been refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow.
