Police have charged a man who was allegedly found with a replica handgun at a railway station in Sydney’s west yesterday. About 2.50pm (Thursday 8 August), police received reports from a number of concerned commuters about a man armed with a handgun on the platform of Merrylands Railway Station. Police from Holroyd and Rosehill local area commands went to the scene and arrested an 18-year-old man. He was found with a replica handgun concealed in the waistband of his trousers. The man was taken to Merrylands Police Station and charged with the possession of a replica pistol. He has been granted conditional bail and will appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 28 August.
