Police, herdsmen partner to check cattle theft The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, on Tuesday advised herdsmen to partner with the police and form vigilante group to check cattle rustling in the FCT. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Mr. Bala Ciroma, who held a meeting with the association of herdsmen, Miyetti Allah, in Abuja, stressed the need for the herdsmen to form a working relationship with the command to address the menace of cattle rustling. Ciroma, who said the meeting was summoned at the instance of the command, denied cases of cattle rustling in the territory. He said, “I would not say there are incessant cases of cattle rustling in the territory but there are some instances of cattle rustling. We did a review and find out that there is need to carry the herdsmen along in the fight against cattle rustling, that is the essence of the meeting.” However, a representative of the herdsmen, Malam Ardo Bala, contended that there were cases of cattle rustling in the territory.
