Police say Monticello man was wanted for numerous crimes The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office had a bonanza of sorts Friday when officers arrested a Monticello man for allegedly stealing scrap metal. They discovered he was wanted for three other crimes in the area. According to a statement by the department, Sgt. Blake Starner and Deputy Roy Rogers were driving on Joyland Road when they spotted a U-Haul pickup truck pulling out of the old Concord property. They recognized the driver as Ricky Williams, 44. But when they stopped him, Williams gave his brother’s name and date of birth. The truck was reportedly filled with scrap metal, a pallet jack and the condenser unit of an air conditioner. Williams, who was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license, was arrested. An employee of the Concord property identified the contents of the truck as property that came from a building at the site. Williams was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor larceny, false personation and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office said Williams was also wanted in connection with a vehicle stolen from a home Sept. 29 on Rose Valley Road in Monticello. He allegedly sold the vehicle to a recycler for scrap. He was charged with felony possession of stolen property. While processing Williams, deputies discovered he was wanted in Deerpark on an arrest warrant for allegedly filing a false written statement. He was also wanted by New York State for alleged parole violation. Williams was arraigned before Thompson Judge Martin Miller and sent to Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance. Hema Easley
