Police say cop murdered by militants Written by Owner:Tahir Saturday, 13 July 2013 22:41 In a rare incident of its kind, unknown persons killed a policeman by slashing his throat at Harduna forest area of Vilgam village in frontier district of Kupwara in North Kashmir. Sources said Head Constable Sanaullah Zargar, son of Abdul Gani Zargar was killed by militants this morning after he was fetching timber from the nearby forest. Sanuallah Belt no. 940/F posted at DPL Srinagar had gone to his home on leave where he was killed. On Saturday morning, Sanuallah left towards nearby forests for fetching logs of timber, sources said, adding that assailants (probably militants) may have found police identity card from his possession thus murdered him. “Sanaullah left his house at around 9 am on Saturday to collect some logs of timber from Hardoona forests. He didn’t return till late afternoon. We tried to contact him on his mobile phone but it was switched off,” a relative of Sanaullah said. Later on, the family members searched for him and found his body in the nearby forests in a pool of blood. The death has sent shock waves in entire Hardoona and its adjoining areas. “The death have created panic in our area,” Abdul Gaffar Bhat, a local resident said. Meanwhile, a police spokesman in a statement issued to TNS said that Sanaullah had gone to a nearby forest area of Hangalpora along with his wife for collection of firewood where the duo was intercepted by some unknown militants in the forest. “Sonnaullah was killed by the militants in a gruesome manner,” the spokesman said, adding that Police has reached the spot and the area has been cordoned off. The body of the deceased Head Constable was handed over to his relatives for last rites, he added. Police has registered a case in this regard and started further investigations.
