#Police stop #pensioner driving #wrong way up #M6 Police were forced to crash into a pensioners car after he was spotted driving the wrong way up the M6. Officers stopped the 77-year-olds Honda Jazz safely between junctions T4 and T5. It then emerged the driver suffered from dementia and had been reported missing by his family. Traffic police had to perform a tactical move to bring the car to a stop. The man, who from Rowley Regis in the West Midlands, was not hurt in the crash, and was returned home. Inspector Mark Watkins, of the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG), said: Traffic officers bravely took the decision to engineer a collision with the vehicle and I am sure that their selfless actions have prevented serious injury or worse to the driver and other motorists on the road. We were relieved that we could bring this situation to a safe conclusion and return the man home safe and well to his family.
