Political Animals “Men are by nature political animals…” ~ Aristotle Imagine when… Imagine when the Lizard says to the Rabbit that you were sidelined because you refused to understand that when an agreement is reached in the animal kingdom, we animals just need to nod our heads to show our loyalty… Imagine when the Dog says to the Goat that you were suspended because you refused to attend several meetings that were summoned by the leaders of the animal kingdom where a lot of bones were shared amongst those that attended the gathering… Imagine when the Tortoise says to the Camel that you were given a heavy task and forced to stay in the lonely desert far from the animal kingdom because you refused to admit that you have hunchback like some of us… Imagine when the Fowl says to the Hawk that I am going to the courts of the animal kingdom not because I don’t know what to do but went there to shout and protest to the heaven and the earth to bear me witness of the injustice of how you are planning to carry me… Imagine when the Goat says to the Giraffe that I deliberately refused to eat the okra fruit because I left it so it can discomfort your throat and belly because I am aware of your ambition to secretly come and eat up all my food… Imagine when the Lion says to the Leopard that I refused to allow the animals to crown you ‘King of the Cat family’ because you refused to recognize me as the King of the animals… Imagine when the Elephant says to the Gorilla that you were suspended from the animal kingdom because you decided to behave like humans whereas you are one of us… Imagine when the Crocodile says to the Shark you were given a warning letter by the animals because you refused to understand that you are not the only one that lives in the water… Imagine when the Fowl says to the Frog that you were suspended because unlike you that is always heard shouting, you refused to answer when the animals visited and called your name… Imagine when the Kingfisher says to the Weaverbird that your nest was removed and given to me because you fly too much and because the animals didn’t see you in your nest when they paid you a visit… Imagine when the Vulture says to the Sunbird that his father’s stool will be deprived him just the way his {Vulture} hair was barbed by the animals because his {Sunbird} legs are slender and that makes him unqualified to ascend to the throne of his father… Imagine when the Python says to the Porcupine that he was removed because he couldn’t use the sharp spike on its back to defend and protect himself when he was attacked for eating the yam which is his favorite food… Imagine when the Mudskipper says to the Crab that it is your friendship with your enemies that caused you your head and that if you don’t avoid those plays that requires turning the hands back, you are going to lose your hands also… Imagine when the Bat says to the Parrot to cry out that ‘the house will be lost’, ‘the house will be lost’, ‘the house will be lost’ if the dog is sold away… …then the animal kingdom turns to the survival of the fittest… ~ Hillary Oparaodu
