Poll Bull and Female of the Year Poll Bull of the Year: Frenchstone P. 1 Dood Seventeen month old Frenchstone P. 1 Dood is owned & exhibited by P & E Williams, Alderoak Herefords, Shrewsbury, Shropshire and bred by LR & AM Ayre, South Molton, Devon. “Dood” has had a very successful show season taking Grand Championships at the Royal Welsh Show and Reserve Grand Male Championships at the Bath & West, Shropshire County and Anglesey Shows. “Dood” is out of Frenchstone P. 1 Jenny and by 2012 Reserve Bull & Poll Bull of the Year Dorepoll 1 499 High Society. He’s a bull that isn’t just about looks and pedigree breeding, he’s a bull that backs up his show successes with a good set of Performance Recorded Figures. He is in the top 10% for 200, 400 & 600 day weight and in the top 5% for Self-replacing and Terminal Sire Indexes. Poll Female of the Year: Coley 1 Clara 286 and Romany 1 Jane A51 E66 As with the Horned Female of the Year, there was a tie for Poll Female of the Year, between Coley 1 Clara 286 bred and exhibited by Miss H Whittaker, Halifax, South Yorkshire and fellow North of England Breeder G & MC Shepherd, Moorside Herefords, Preston, Lancashire with Romany 1 Jane A51 E66. Twenty three month old “Clara 286” took the Grand Female Championships at the Royal Three Counties Show, against a strong line of females, and at the Royal Welsh Show. She also won the Reserve Grand Female Championship at the Shropshire County Show. Expertly shown by professional stockman Andrew Hughes, Coley 1 Clara 286 is out of Barbern 1 Claret 2nd and out of 2012 Bull of the Year Blakelaw 1 Calzaghe. Romany 1 Jane A51 E66 bred by JRB Wilson & Sons, Kelso, Scottish Borders amassed most of points by taking the Grand Female Championship at Bury Show and the Reserve Grand Female Championships at Royal Three Counties Show and Burwarton Show. This stylish six year old cow is out Romany 1 Jane R5 B38 and out thrice Sire of the Year Baybridge 1 Atlas. “Jane A51 E66” has a good array of Breedplan Performance Figures with her 200, 400 & 600 day weights in the top 5%, an Eye Muscle Area in the top 10% and a Retail Beef Yield, Self-Replacing Index and Terminal Sire Index in the top 5% for the Breed.
