Poll: Do you consider a white Latino/a to be a person of color? Its something Ive struggled with for a while. My family runs the color spectrum - from Black to pale White and yet I once had a diversity professor tell me that Im not a person of color because Im not tan enough. (WTF!). And yet Ive been discriminated against and faced plenty of racism by those who recognize Im Latina. And even more by those who dont realize Im Latina and think its ok to insult my people in front of me. (Passing has its own pitfalls). So how do you define a person of color?
