Poll: SNP at record high as Miliband hits new low Sun, 26/10/2014 - 12:39 The SNP has welcomed the latest YouGov poll showing the SNP maintaining their record polling high in Westminster voting intentions and revealing a new record low for Ed Miliband in his job as Labour leader. The number of voters who believe the Labour leader is doing ‘badly’ in his job as leader’ has soared to 82%, higher than David Cameron at 64% and higher even than Lid Dem leader Nick Clegg at 72%. Commenting, SNP Business Convener Derek MacKay said: “This consistent polling showing the SNP leading on Westminster voting intentions – now with a 17 point lead over Labour - is very welcome news indeed. “As if party ratings were not bad enough for the Labour leadership, Ed Miliband’s personal ratings have hit a new record low in Scotland. The fact that he is recognised as doing a bad job as leader by more than 80% of people in Scotland – worse even than Nick Clegg – is truly extraordinary. Johann Lamont’s resignation has lifted the lid on the scale of the infighting between Labour in Scotland and Labour at Westminster and has exposed the shambles that the Labour Party is for all to see – and people understand that the blame lies squarely at the door of Ed Miliband. The London-based leadership pulling the partys strings in Scotland, and Labour campaigning side-by-side the Tories in the referendum, has proved a deeply corrosive combination which is causing Labour support to plummet in Scotland. The latest polling analysis indicates that people in Scotland will not forget Labours alliance with the Tories. Labour are now polling at just 26 per cent for next years UK general election, while SNP support has surged to 43 per cent - and has been consistently high since the referendum. Labour were already a party in crisis, and Johann Lamonts resignation - caused by infighting and deep division - has plunged them to a new low.
