Polygamist blows himself up with a dynamite in bedroom suicide. A POLYGAMOUS man blew his head off with dynamite as his wife and six-year-old son slept in the same room, his family said. Simon Chisoni, 43, a miner from Hope Fountain, just outside Bulawayo, is believed to have stolen the explosives from his workplace. His family says he joined his first wife in their bedroom hut late last Thursday night, stuffed dynamite in his mouth and then lit the fuse. A Chronicle news crew was given access to the bedroom yesterday and Chisonis brains were splattered on the walls, a cupboard, bed sheets and blankets. The explosion also blew off a chunk of the mattress and the base of the bed where Chisoni was sleeping with his first wife, Thembelenkosini Ndlovu. Their six-year-old son was sleeping on the floor. Ndlovu told Chronicle that Chisoni had arrived home shortly after 9PM and found her already in bed. It was raining and his clothes were soaked. He removed his clothes and retired to bed. After some time, I woke up to a huge explosion and thought it was lightning, she said. I quickly woke up but the room was dark. I tried to wake him up but he would not wake up. In panic, Ndlovu grabbed her son and raced to the second wifes home nearby. Joined by neighbours, they returned with a torch and were confronted by the grim scene. She added: I saw blood and pieces of human flesh all over the room. My father-in-law also came to inspect the scene and we saw my husbands headless body. Chisonis father, Marakano, said he had never seen anything like it. Im a security guard at Wanderberg Mine where Simon was working. I was on duty that night when I heard the explosion, he said. My nephew came running minutes later and told me to go to my sons homestead. When I got there, I found that he had blown off his head and there was blood everywhere. Chisonis two wives, Ndlovu and Nhlanhla Ngwenya, insisted there was no dispute among them and Chisoni had not shown any suicidal tendencies.Ngwenya said: He spent Thursday afternoon at our homestead and I served him supper before he departed to his first wifes homestead around 9PM. Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo said: We received a report on the sudden death of Simon Chisoni and investigations are under way.
