Pony update!!!! Figgy was a good boy tonight in his lesson with Fran after work :) Aims for the session: more reactive hind leg, taking more weight behind. So trot halt trot, trot piaffe trot and then passage into canter (back to walk). Someone has definitely taught Fig piaffe in a past life! I struggled with the rhythm today (my first job insurance, and my second job Equissentials Dressage have both been very busy, so brainpower lacking!), but the exercise definitely helped him fold his hips underneath a little more. We used shoulder in to get the ribs soft and to keep him swinging along. In the canter a few simple changes always helps settle him. Passage breaks up his bouncy little canter into something more grown up, this approach helps me help him to push him up off the floor and stay up with his poll. Always helps if I stay sitting on MY bum mind ;) A few changes, some nice, some not so nice. Wind up your bum Fig?!!!! Then some (true) canter leg yields, half halting *up* every time he dropped, just because Im asking for flexion doesnt mean he can drop me, and scooping the hind leg under with each step.
