Poor John. It seems like almost every time he goes in for a simple procedure, it turns out to be everything but that! He had his procedure done this morning.Things looked great. We stopped at the UVA Pharmacy to refill some of his prescriptions before heading home, and then things werent going so great anymore. He felt something wet on his side. We looked at his bandage where the bile catheter was pulled out and saw that it was saturated with bile! He was leaking bile from the hole between his ribs where the drain had come out! We rushed back over to Interventional Radiology where they told us he would have to have another procedure done. It turns out there was a narrowing in the bile duct which made it easier for the bile to come out of the hole in his side, than to go back down through his bile duct. Unfortunately the bile duct catheter had to be put back in for another four weeks! They will test the pressure in his bile duct when he comes back, and if it is too high, they will use an angioplasty balloon to widen the bile duct. And our day doesnt end there! We arrived home around 7pm (we left 7am this morning!) only to find our four dogs had each rolled in something disgusting and made the whole house smell like something had crawled in and died! We had to give each dog a bath, mop the floors, and put new bedding on the bed! Still hoping to have a good Labor Day Weekend! Hope you all have a good one too! :)
