Pope Francis flies today to Leyte, for the primary reason of his visit which is to show his deep concern for our people who have gone through devastating calamities, especially in the Visayas. He comes to confirm us in our faith as we face the challenges of witnessing to the Joy of the Gospel in the midst of our trials (from A Nation of Mercy and Compassion). Whether you are in Leyte or not, here are some proposals for today: 1) Accompany Pope Francis in his visit to our sisters and brothers there by watching the coverage and monitoring internet feeds, particularly from Vatican and CBCP sites, and by continuing to pray for him and the people he will come to encounter. 2) If you are coming to the UST and/or Luneta tomorrow, prepare well for it. Read and reread the information and instructions provided; make sure you bring whats needed, including an image of the Santo Nino, etc. (and do not bring what shouldnt be brought). 3) Live mercy and compassion today by making a concrete act on these human and Christian values; for example, decide to smile instead of frown, choose to pass that fare in the jeepney, ask questions and listen intently instead of immediately saying something to a distressed friend, ask the beggar for his/her name rather than simply handing him/her coins/food, etc. #PapalVisitPH
