Position: Data Architect Salary: R 28,500 – 32,700 pm ( Depending on experience Closing date: March 27 2014 Location: Kempton Park PURPOSE: To analyse, define and design the data architecture required to achieve the organisations’ information needs. This includes, but is not limited to the design and maintenance of an Enterprise Data Warehouse. The Data Architect reports directly to the Information Manager. Based on requirements gathered from users, the Data Architect is responsible for producing a logical design which will translate into one or more physical databases The Data Architect will design the data flows through the various stages and address issues related to data migration, such as validation, cleansing and mapping Internal liaison takes place with all business stakeholders and internal IT staff External liaison takes place with relevant stakeholders depending on the research being conducted. DUTIES: To gather requirements that will be used to measure the delivery To define data architecture to assist with solution design To understand and document user requirements to define the scope of the delivery To perform data modelling activities to ensure the requirements can be achieved To create a solution plan to assist with estimation efforts for the IM department To provide feedback to the stakeholders to ensure that all agreed upon objectives have been achieved QUALIFICATION: Grade 12 3 Year relevant tertiary qualification -BCom Finance/ Statistics/Business Management / IT or similar (Essential) 6 Years experience with Information Systems of which 3 years must be in Systems Analysis or Data Analysis (Essential) Additional experience/exposure in the industry (Desirable) Experience working with MS SQL Server (Essential) Applied statistics (Desirable) Application of Kimball modelling techniques (Essential) Verbal & written communication (Essential) Proficient in MS Office and MS Visio (Essential) Report writing and documentation (Essential) Experience with BI Tools (preferably MS tools) (Essential) Independent problem solving (Essential) Information gathering methods (JAD, Surveys, Interviews, etc.) (Desirable) Knowledge of the travel/leisure/airline industry (Desirable) Business analysis standards, tools & methodologies (Essential) Enterprise RDBMS management and design (Essential) Statistical analysis (Essential) Understand the importance of Data Dictionaries (Essential) Please contact Tshidi Mokwana on 0123704455 or by email at [email protected]
