Positive steps today with Jen - a wonderful birthday gift for Lisa! Continued prayers for healing, strength, perseverance and patience. Dear Friends, Thank you for the birthday greetings and I know you all know what I am wishing for. Jen gifted me with another step(s) forward..... Jen is obeying simple commands - squeeze our hands, close your eyes, stick out your tongue! Last night they were able to remove her ventilation tube! and she received oxygen through a nose piece. She remained pretty agitated throughout the day and into the night so we stayed with her until about 11pm in order to keep her calm. Today she has an oxygen mask which provides oxygen and moisture. The doctors determined her lungs looked strong enough to remove the chest tube! A physical therapist is working with her to get her to cough and blow through a straw in order to strengthen her lungs. Jen is very weak and groggy so these exercises are difficult. Please pray that she will gain strength and be able to do these exercises to prevent the ventilator from needing to be reinserted. Another 24 hours and forward steps....we try not to get too high as there are many uncertainties and we know this will be a roller coaster ride.....but once again we are so grateful for answered prayers....poco a poco!
