Post-Elections Turmoil When I logged into my Facebook account - TopicsExpress

Post-Elections Turmoil When I logged into my Facebook account today morning, I watched several videos related to the announcement of the runoff preliminary results. Some of these videos were giving hope for the future, while some were full of discontents. The first video I watched showed people celebrating Ghani’s victory in different parts of Kabul city and some provinces. I found it very impressive and encouraging for the future of Afghanistan. The video recalled me of the Afghan soccer’s team victory in SAFF championship celebrated nationally with cheers and smiles. For some moments, I started thinking of a sovereign, unified, democratic prosperous, developed and stable Afghanistan. Nevertheless, scrolling down my Facebook page, I noticed another video showing Abdullah’s supporters protesting against the runoff preliminary results. The 90-second video showed how aggressive, destructive and chaotic were the protesters. Their slogans, ferocious behavior and unnecessary firing were proving that they want to grab power by extra-illegal means which may lead Afghanistan to anarchy, division and civil war. The emotional warlord Atta Mohammad Noor’s comments on making ‘parallel government’ and engaging in ‘armed conflict’ is the other means of Afghanistan’s division. Likewise, Mohaqeq also reiterated his position on dividing Afghanistan into Southern and Northern regions by forming a ‘parallel government’. I am quite confident this would not be better than bringing back the cruel Taliban. Many Afghans despite threats voted for the betterment and development of Afghanistan. I believe they did not know their votes would bring chaos otherwise they would never go to the polling stations and cast their votes to practice nascent democracy in Afghanistan. Last night, we slept with hopes, but later woke up with the sounds of bullets, stopped our children from schools. Today, we are welcoming widespread protests in which many Afghans may lose their lives. This is the pay back of democracy and voting for our favorite candidates. And, finally, some are waiting for the division of Afghanistan after the ‘parallel government’ is formed.
