Posted on @gymnasitics certification with jeff tucker - nice job Coach Pamela! This is a gymnastic swing performed impeccably by CFG Pamela Gagnon. A solid kipping movement performed by using the primary movers of the shoulder and shoulder girdle. Denote the very tight body form, the long lever used to create more momentum in the swing as opposed to broken angles in the body which shorten the swing and momentum. Denote further the hollow form in the uprise - the front uprise or default kipping muscle up by another name. Notice there is no false grip - a simple neutral grip - as leverage is no longer being used in the normal strict muscle up pose - it is no longer needed as it is replaced by momentum - yeah - you got it - momentum. But not momentum at all costs as form and strength in the form with solid isometric control of the leverage allows for much easier transitions form A to B. This swing does not have the kitchen sink thrown at it - it is a simple basic swing with solid forms that allows for optimal creation of an almost weightlessness as you uprise to a locked out support. The reverse of which is created in connecting and recreating the swing with a controlled and active descent pushing the moveable bar (rings) away from the body after the bent armed descent... Thus creating another swing with solid body forms to recreate the uprise to come. Pamela uprises to the top of it with locked out arm support and shows control of the dynamic plane (rings) in the dip to lockout with thought body form - this is old hat in gymnastics but looks good, but is also a major part of our basic ring transition work we hit at the course. All that to say this - definitions are important, I have preached it for years, was taught it for years by former gymnastic coaches - as to what movements are, and what they ultimately can look like if we work basic forms while developing strength. Even working basic skills on ring work in dips, turn outs, weighted dips on static planes, planks, v-outs, strict movements on rings with isometric poses like l-sits will work your musculature toward the basic swing. Knowing what a hollow actually is and defined - knowing how to hold and use a hollow is paramount with such a swing, knowing how to swing in a hang on rings and a bar is a must - and all with active tissue involved in the swing itself to help add more momentum to the swing... This is what CFG is all about and teaches at every course. You can throw all types of movements to get from A to B - but if you will work on the forms needed to rise in A to B with as straight a line as possible - you will get there easier and quicker, and do far less damage to connective tissues. Watch the slow mo portion of Pamelas movements - see how the shoulder rises up under the rings as the momentum creates a weightless moment for ring transitions for the hands as he begins to lock out the support. Pause this video and see the solid tight hollow in the swing prep for the uprise (without massive broken angles created with a loose body form as often seen in other teachings and so called MUs or uprises) - and then a solidly executed tight hypertension in back swing where we refer to it as a superman in the CFG course (and same rukes of form applie here for tight body pose)... Legs together, toes pointed, tight body, - sound familiar? Now, stop shooting for the mere trick and go work the BASICS in a swing or desired move while working good forms and strength - it will make your journey far easier and more productive... Very nice job Coach Pamela! This is virtuosity! BAM! Coach Tucker
