The Human Resources Officer reports to the Chief of the Section. Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-general and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures. This post is funded with extra-budgetary resources. Continuation of the post will be subject to approval and availability of funds. Education Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in human resources management, management, finance, business administration, public administration, social sciences, education, or a related area. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, administration or related area, at least two of which should have been gained in an international environment is required. Experience in the development and administration of salary and compensation systems is desirable. Experience in collecting, analysing and processing large volumes of quantitative data is desirable (e.g. in a financial, statistical environment). Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position, fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
