Power or Respect? By Markia Simpson Born 1993, F, from Baltimore, Maryland, United States Power or Respect? (Note that the author was 12 years old when she wrote this story.) Keisha See, money is and always will be everything. You dont need friends, acquaintances, or family. All you need is power. Money equals power. Thats my philosophy. Maybe to you your number 1 priority is family first. But if you think about it what does family give you? besides a headache? If you look at most of the situations you been through money bailed you out. Not being in a talent show? Money solves it. Not having a ride to work? Money solves it. Not being on a party list? Money solves that. Evidently Im rich. I have a lot of power. Everyone hates me. They dont have to love me. They can hate me until I die because I have power. Anne R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Respect. If you got that you dont need money because the money gonna come rolling to you. No matter what stay respectful and you will be respected. If you have friends it shows that you are respected. If you show people that you are respected they will be respectful. Thats my motto. What does money give you except financial problems and sleepless nights wondering how you are going to eat. Everyone loves a respected person. Look at me! I have evrything I ever wanted because I was and remains respected. Who side is you on? Do you believe in Donald Trump who has power? Do you believe in the mayor of Baltimore City who has respect. Or do you believe in the governer of California who has both. POWER OR RESPECT? It is an issue we as people of the United States of America need to face.
