Praise for the Day June 21, 2014 I Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Why praise God? Why not do what we usually do in our prayers, ask for something and wait for God to agree with us? He is, afterall, God, and should be able to take care of praise for himself. He could, you know. He created angels, who could praise him when they aren’t off fighting our spiritual battles for us. This verse gives us two good reasons. First, he is good. And God is more than good, he is perfect, certainly worthy of praise. Second, his love endures forever. Of all the things to understand about eternity, the most important thing to comprehend is that God’s love never ends. So, why praise God? So we will have to learn why he is worthy of praise. We can’t talk about something we don’t know.
