Prayer- disagreements November 17, 2014 Heavenly Father, You sent Jesus to bring us peace…and I just want to let You know how incredibly thankful I am for Your peace. It’s not the kind of peace the world thinks of with no battles or trials or conflict. Your peace comes from trusting You in every situation. Your peace comes from knowing You are with us no matter what…forever! The peace You give us is like lying down in green lush pastures on a lovely day. It can come over us in the midst of a crisis…in spite of raging conflict and disagreements. Your peace is a reminder that You are God, and You will be victorious when we trust You. Father, I have witnessed, and in some cases, been the hot target of some heated conflict recently. They were meant to personally intimidate and distract from You and Your work. Those who voiced the disagreements may not even realize they were being used to attempt to throw Your children off course. Yet, when I turn to You, I find peace in the conflict and Your presence to sustain me in the midst of the conflict. I can hold on to You even more tightly and follow You more closely, knowing You are with me…and then comes Your peace despite the storm. I may have to struggle against my own selfish desires and surrender to Your will to love everyone…but when I do, I find You and Your peace! Jesus was sent to bring peace and goodwill…yet just the mention of His name or following Him seems to stir up conflict. So where does this conflict come from? Perhaps it stems from our selfish desires to get our own way, to demand our own rights. When those disagreements come (and You told us they will) help us to see that the loud disagreements may be aimed at us, but they truly are in conflict with You. Maybe that’s another reason You give us peace in the battle…and the supernatural ability to love those who rage against us- because it’s You they battle against. It’s Your battle and You’ve already won it on their behalf. All they have to do is surrender to Your love and will for them! (Or maybe we need to check to make sure we are not the one fighting for our own way)The absence or presence of Your peace is usually a pretty good indicator! ******************************************************************************** “”But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual and of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit,, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:14-17 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. “ Ephesians 6:12 (Jesus said) “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
