Prayer Letter from our missionary in Chicago/Rockford region Missionary Newsletter, Spring 2014 Pastor Jeremiah & Tancy Griffin Noah, Cami, Chloe & Jonah 4735 Orchard Lane Rockford, IL 61101 pastor@livingstonesrockford LivingStonesRockford Greetings to our Partners and Prayer Warriors, In 2014, God has already given us several busy months back-to-back in the harvest field of Northern Illinois. We’ve had 8 baptisms since January and 3 more panned for April! As a result we have started a special “Discipleship” class for these new believers, and God has provided both materials and a leader to step up and help share that burden with us. UPDATES ON THE MINISTRIES • We are excited to see God’s continued work in bringing the lost to the Light of His Gospel in Rockford and Belvidere. Of course, this brings increased resistance by some to our churches, especially with changes to the property (increased traffic and signage). This is awesome, yet at the same time a bit frustrating. • Ministering to one young lady [we’ll call her Hannah] and three little children is challenging. Hannah finds herself trapped in an abusive situation, with few options. Counseling from the Word is profitable but we are seeking added methods to minister covertly to the family. Pray that God is glorified in the situation. • Tancy and I have the normal frustrations and struggles of raising a family and on top of that this last month we have had a number of great challenges. It started with an ice dam on our roof that we assumed would melt as the weather warmed and go away. It didn’t. We are currently without a kitchen or main bathroom in our house and the boxes of contents from those rooms overflow our living room. The next week our dryer went out and you can imagine that with a family of 6 the dryer is important. The following day our wonderful hot water tank ruptured, flooding the basement. We’ve had better weeks! I was telling a friend about the woes and he said, Well whatever you are doing, keep doing it! Obviously Satan is mad at what you are trying to do, and he is doing everything he can to stop you! While I dont think that theology is correct, it does remind us of the sovereignty of God who is the blessed controller of all things. Through these issues we have had multiple opportunities to share Gods grace, and even been put back in touch with a former member that showed up as part of the cleanup team from the insurance. • A supporting church recognized our family’s need for a dependable van (our vehicles are on their last legs and a constant drain of funds) and has given $3,000.00 to start a “Griffin Family Van Fund”. If you/your church would like to contribute, send any gift to “Sovereign Grace Church, 534 CY Avenue, Casper, WY 82601” and designate the money for the van. Your gift will go toward meeting this pressing need. PRAYER POINTS • Pray for the ‘New Disciple’ Class beginning in April • Pray for the Griffin Family and Griffin’s family residence in all its structural needs • Pray for the new youth class • Pray for the people of Northern Illinois to be reached with the truth of the Gospel and God’s love • Pray for the weekly ministries in the Rockford and Belvidere church sites, along with all the various outreach ministries (sandwiches, water, clothing, supplies) to the needy of this entire area. I will close with this reminder: We are safe and secure, resting in the exact place where God wants us. It is dangerous and busy, with a real war raging around us and enemies at every turn. But victory is insured by the powerful presence of our Lord as we are also ringed and protected by our friends fighting along side of us. All for the Joy of God’s Kingdom. In Christ Alone, Pastor Jeremiah Griffin & Family Serving the Kingdom in Rockford, Illinois
