Prayer for my County- Elgeyo Marakwet Dear Lord, please grand me favor and listen to my prayer. I come to your throne with awe and reverence. I thank you for establishing our county and enabling our people to elect us to leadership. We are forever indebted to you and our people We are approaching two years Lord and our people would like to enjoy the fruits of devolution. But there are problems that I would like to bring to your throne of mercy. Lord I write to you this prayer shared to others just like you taught your disciples to pray in the hope that my prayer is the prayer of many other residents. First we pray for unity of purpose. Lord our people are well meaning and elected us knowing that we have different roles that will eventually converge in the development of the county. However out county has been captured by business brokers who thrive on misleading the leadership. Our county government has been taken hostage by vultures whose desire is primitive accumulation. Lord there are well meaning county government officers whose talents and expertise have been wasted.Whatever initiative they have come up with for the good of their motherland is shot down and frustrated by political brokers. Break the bondage and set our county free. Let the county government leadership take charge and responsibility. Second I pray for spirit of accountability to reign in our county. Lord we need our resources to be fully accounted for. Too many allegations have been leveled against corrupt brokers in the county.On the other side residents at complaining of luck of service delivery. Give me strength to undertake my oversight responsibilities robustly. Lord every time I question the efficiently, proficiency and competence of the county governments leadership some people call it supremacy battles.considering this is the job I was given under Art.96 help me to do it with passion and vigor. Help me to scrutinize properly the accounts of our county next year individually and collectively as a member of Senate County Accounts Committee. May we not be united by greed. Let the spirit of corruption be bound and driven away from our county in Jesus name. Third I pray for fairness and meritocracy to flourish in our county. Lord I have received too many complains from young people who are turned away from employment on an account of being associated with this or that leader. Help our county government to respect all our people. I pray for the weak, those with no political connection and those of minority and marginalized backgrounds that they may find favor and be treated like all other county men and women. I pray that our county will fairly share the opportunities available. I also pray that the law passed by our County Assembly on equitable development may be implemented fully. Fourth I pray that spirit of knowledge and discernment may dwell among us. Your word says my people have perished because of lack of knowledge. Help us next year to educate our electorate well on what to expect from who so that they can hold us accountable. I would like to particularly pray for our county assembly whose responsibility is to budget and oversight the executive that they may do their job meticulously. I pray that the electorate will understand their legislative and oversight role so as not to expect money from them. I pray for our MPs who also handle constituency funds that they may compliment county and national efforts. Help our MPs as they legislate and oversight national government that they may appreciate their roles and also some of them to read the constitution and understand the various roles of certain office holders. I pray for our voters to always remember they are the bosses and to view development as a right and not a favor. Give them the courage to question and demand from us leaders what is expected of us. Above all let a section of our voters not agree to be used to coverup inefficiency and incompetency in our county merely because of the evil spirit of tokenism. Let those who have the knowledge to demand the best from the county not be compromised through employment, handouts, contracts etc. Help me in my legislative roles, allocation of resources, protection of counties and county governments, and in carrying our oversight of counties. Help me also as I work with national government to fulfill election pledges in our county. Give me the spirit of tolerance against all abuses for you said in your word to whom much is given much is expected. Help me to remain bold and to speak out against evil without fear or favour. In the coming year shower me with the wisdom of Solomon for the journey ahead is long and treacherous. Such O Lord is the higher calling to leadership. May you always be the King over our county bless it as you bless the rest of our country. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN! OKM
