Prayer vignette-April Imagine that you are walking into an audition. You have your papers in hand with your basic information, your resume that highlights your experience and talents. Attached to that is your headshot. You have all your creditionals and and you are ready to present you. You take your seat in a long line of potentials and wait for your name to be called. You feel nervous, anxious, excited and fearful. You hear your name-you are next. You are ready. You have but one chance, one impression to make on someone who will be judging you. Will they like what they see? Will you do great under pressure or make an embarrassing mistake? How can I make myself stand out amongst all these talented people you think so that I am chosen. You take your long, lonely walk to the stage and you are on! So how did you do? Will you be chosen or will you be rejected? How do we deal with the feelings of rejection? Not just with an audition but with everyday life? Do we let this feeling wound us, depress us or make us so angry we forever stay hurt and rejected? As Christians we are not immune to hurt and worldly rejection. Even Jesus Christ was rejected. He assures us in the scriptures that we will be rejected by the world, that we will suffer loss and disappointment. Jesus was able to endure rejection from the world because He knew He was not rejected by God the father. Jesus knew who He was and that God the Father loved Him. Knowing who we are in Christ and that we are loved by God readies us to take on what the world says about us. The question is, will I believe what the world says about me, or will I take God at His word and believe what He says about me? So what does the world say-give it your best shot and Ill get back to you. What does The Lord say-Even though your mother and father forsake you. I will never leave you Ps. 27:10 God says that nothing in all of creation can separate us from Him. Rom. 8:38-39 When we fully embrace the fact that we are loved by God, chosen by Him and that we are His. We can take worldly rejection because our identity is not found in being chosen by man but in being chosen by God. The Lord says that we did not choose Him but that He chose us. With our identity secure in Christ I can then walk into any situation or circumstance and face the unnerving experience of being rejected by the world with the understanding that I will never be rejected by my God. That I am loved. That I am cared for. That I am chosen. Look God says to me in those moments of fear see I have engraved your name on the palm of my hand.Is. 49:16 I am secure in my identity that I am Gods and God is mine. That nothing and no one can snatch me out of His hand or away from His love. John 10:29 So then let us resume our spot on the stage not with fear or trepidation. But with a spirit of power that comes from Him. Weve done our best, weve given our all and we left no regrets. This perfect love casts out all fear. 1 John 4:18
