Praying Through Acts: Acts 21:27-36 Father, the Christian - TopicsExpress

Praying Through Acts: Acts 21:27-36 Father, the Christian movement, at its fundamental best, has always been one in which justice is at home and goodness has been propagated. It was never and should never be one in which mob-violence is aligned, or brute force is in league! In fact, when it aligns with human armament it looses its divine power, since it has always won hearts through humility not hardware. And since the Cross is its finest symbol why would we think swords should replace it? But this does not take away from the fact that the message of Jesus is still disturbing and frightening to the powers and people it comes into contact with. Indeed, when its true message is delivered with conviction and humility proud hearts are exposed, antiquated religions are disquieted, and political systems are disrupted! Jesus will be Lord over all other competing kingdoms and before him the whole world will have to give an account! But wherever Jesus’ message is given a fair hearing, in which cooler heads are allowed to listen with an open heart, its truth rises to the forefront, its force gently breaks hardened positions, and its power gains a stronger foothold in a community. Why? Perhaps because it answers the most profound of human questions? Perhaps because it resonates with the most ancient memories of human origins? Perhaps because it inspires a greater sense of hope and destiny in human dreams? Yes, the gates of temple doors may be shut to its message but it is still unbound and unchained to the wider world! It still is the key that unlocks the gates of paradise! In Jesus name, AMEN!
