Praying for God’s Protection O LORD, rescue me from evil - TopicsExpress

Praying for God’s Protection O LORD, rescue me from evil people. Protect me from those who are violent, those who plot evil in their hearts and stir up trouble all day long.” ~ Psalm 140: 1-2 NLT America’s most important defense against terrorism is not missiles, tanks, or drones. Our Countrys greatest weapon of protection is prayer. This is where the church can step up. As God’s people, we must pray for His protection upon our church family, as well as those around the world. Sadly enough, our world is getting more evil with each passing day. A quick survey of the Fox News Network tells us all we need to know concerning the evil that is growing like a cancer worldwide. For this reason the church needs to pray. But what exactly do we pray for? Is it unchristian to pray for evil people to be stopped by death or destruction? Absolutely not! In the verses above, David is praying for deliverance from a certain enemy. While we are not sure of the exact circumstances of David’s plea, we can clearly see that his hope is in God’s protection for his life. In this and other Psalms, David doesn’t sugarcoat his prayers. Obviously, evil like the beheading of children and the rape of women are warrant serious prayer. Here are five immediate prayers we can pray for our church and others: 1. Pray for any woman, child, or man that is being held against their will to be rescued. 2. Pray for those that are being persecuted in any way around the world. 3. Pray for God to destroy the plans of the evildoers. 4. Pray for God to raise up leaders that will call on His Name to lead our Country. 5. Pray for those in your church that are experiencing mistreatment from evil people. May God Bless you, as you walk in the confidence of His counsel today. - Pastor Ray
