Pre Season Welcome from Matt Rose. Dear player / member / - TopicsExpress

Pre Season Welcome from Matt Rose. Dear player / member / supporter As most of you would be aware, I have been appointed as senior coach of the Kilmore CC for the coming 2013/14 season. I believe I am in the enviable position of coming into a club which has established and talented playing list, facilities that would be the envy of most Melbourne clubs and also perhaps the strongest committee that I have seen in my time in cricket. I thank Ray, Laurie, Travis and the committee for giving me this opportunity. My Background in Cricket has been at the one club, Ivanhoe CC in the VSDCA where I have been a member of the first XI for 10 seasons. In that time I have played in a premiership and two other grand finals. In addition to this for the past two seasons I have coached the club. It was quite a sad decision for me to leave the club, however I believe that Kilmore is an excellent fit for me as it is close to my work and my young family, while at the same time it will allow me to continue to play competitive turf cricket. I have attached a preseason schedule, which is not a particularly long preseason, but my plan is to make it intense and purposeful, and I am confident that it will have us in good condition heading into round 1 in early October. The Sunday morning sessions are likely to be quite comprehensive and will consist of nets, fielding and cricket related fitness work. Weeknight sessions will be nets and fielding, and will go for as long as light permits. The earlier we get there, the more training we can get it. I would like the Sunday and Thursday sessions to be our main sessions with maximum attendance. I have added Saturday morning sessions to the program. Saturdays will be completely optional, and I would encourage anyone, particularly young players, to get down to these to hit some extra balls, and get some more specialist technical coaching. Anyone is welcome to attend these, and they will run whether we get 4 or 40 players attending. In my time in cricket, the key ingredients to a successful team are talent, commitment and desire. I am in no doubt that the talent exists in this club. What I am asking for from every player is commitment; Commitment to complete a preseason, commitment to train with intensity and purpose; commitment to becoming a better cricketer and giving 100% at every session and match. We need to train and play with the absolute desire to be the best team in the competition, and I look forward to striving for this goal with each of you this season. Regards, Matt Rose Senior Coach Kilmore CC
