I would like to welcome our Life Members who are with us tonight. The 2014 Premier season has flown by and we managed to avoid the number of major injuries to players that we had last year. All teams have had to fight hard for their wins and as the competition has gone on, have all shown huge improvements, this made winning that little bit harder. We trialed the 2 point goal for a few weeks and the feed-back from players and coaches has been mixed as to whether they liked it or not. Who knows where that will go, but I would imagine after World Champs next year it could become an inevitable part of the modern game. Buller Netball Centre Board embarked on two major new incentives this year. Firstly the Junior Development programme for Year 1-3 children. This programme can only benefit our players of the future with increased skill development showing out after the 8 weeks of the programme and into the future an increased understanding of the game. Secondly the Junior Umpire classes. Thanks to Angela Basher and Matt Keenan for their assistance with this. We have been approached by a number of Senior/Premier players about classes and will look at running these next year. We have talked with Netball Mainland about who might assist us with the running of this programme. We were very lucky to receive a two night coaching programme with Jenni Hooper who is Netball Mainland Coach-Force Officer. This programme was very informative and it was great to see such a large number of our coaches taking part. Our successes can only continue to grow as the skill level within our centre does, on that note thank you to all the team coaches this year. It is not an easy job and sometimes a thankless one, player selection, game strategies and training regimes all add up to the weekly challenges, we hope that you have enjoyed this season enough to come back next year. Thank you to our small band of regular umpires on a Thursday night, Matt, Leanne, Eyvonne, Angela, Erica, Katrina and Vic. We appreciate your time and dedication to an unenviable job, at times it must have felt like you had 20 other umpires helping you along, however you fronted each week with a positive attitude and we appreciate your continued support. Our Representative teams did us so proud this year. They worked really hard in trainings and from Tournaments attended brought home a mixture of trophies. All 4 age group teams worked hard to again bring home the Kawatari Cup for 2014, and the Under 13 team added the Aggregate Shield (for the highest goal average over the two West Coast Tournaments) to the trophy cabinet. We are so proud of Ashley Stuart who gained selection after a long trial process into the Tasman Under 19 Team to attend National Tournament in Dunedin. This was a big commitment to make as all the trainings were held in either Nelson or Blenheim. Ashley took this in her stride and we were lucky enough to see her play in the Tasman Team at the tournament we attended in Blenheim. This should be an inspiration to our younger players, that with drive, commitment and passion anything and everything is at your fingertips, with the right attitude and desire, anything is possible and you should grab those opportunities when on offer. Finally I would like to thank my fellow board members: Lynley Pratt, Anita Green, Joelean Simpson, Laura Redmond, Angela Basher, Matt Keenan and Katrina Millings. We have worked hard this year to achieve all the goals we set at the beginning of the season and for all those extra bits that you have taken on this year I thank you.
