Premium Gasoline Does NOT Equal Better: Unless your owner’s manual states that you should use premium gasoline, you’re wasting valuable pennies. Thing is, that more expensive gas is really just less combustible, not any cleaner or better for your average car’s performance. This myth was and is perpetuated by the fact that older vehicles suffered from engine knock, and premium gas helped things run more smoothly. Well, now we have knock sensors that take care of the problem themselves, no need for driver interference. So don’t bother cleaning out your tank every 4th fill with premium, it’s not doing anything for you.
