Presidency’s Reponse To My Letter Smacks Of Arrogance, Confusion, Nyako Insists Posted by: daniel Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako has insisted that the Presidency is confused, saying the strategy being adopted by government to fight the insurgency in the North-East smacked of a premeditated plot designed to decimate the North and northerners. The governor was reacting to the Presidency’s statement, which was a response to a letter Nyako wrote to the leadership of the Northern States Governors Forum, NSGF, accusing the President Goodluck Jonathan administration of committing genocide against the North. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe had while asking Nigerians to ignore the “senseless letter”, described it as “a very disgraceful remark by the governor and a pathetic embarrassment to the Nigerian Military from where Nyako derives his career antecedents. It is certainly a reflection of the governor’s ignorance and unpatriotic inclinations”. Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Ahmad Sajoh, described the Presidency’s sharp rebuke of his principal’s memo to his colleagues in the NSGF, as a display of arrogance and confusion. He said, “Like we said yesterday, (Saturday) the Presidency’s response has shown that they are arrogant and confused. They arrogate all knowledge and wisdom to themselves alone. “We hold the statements we released as true and challenge those who claim to have a sense of history to cut-off the use of jaundiced semantics to address the issues raised in this and several other documents before it”. He said that by making false claims about the attack on Nyako, which was never investigated nor ascertained, the Presidency was providing further proof that it knew more than it was willing to admit with respect to the brazen attack. Nyako also explained that the statement on the purported rescue of the abducted schoolgirls in Borno State was enough to prove that that the Federal Government was not in control of the situation. He reiterated that if the Presidency was not a party to the killings in the country, how come the president went dancing in Kano State a day after several citizens were killed in a bomb explosion in Nyanya, an Abuja suburb.
