President Jacob Zuma will officially open the De Hoop Dam at GaMalekana Sportsfield in Sekhukhune, Limpopo on Monday, 24 March 2014 at 09h00. The Presidential event will also be attended by the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Mrs Edna Molewa, and Limpopo Premier, Mr Stanley Mathabathe, and his Cabinet. De Hoop Dam was built by the Department of Water Affairs at a cost of R3,5 billion to alleviate the water woes in the province. The dam will supply potable water to thousands of people in the province and will also serve the industry along the Platinum belt. The Olifants River Water Resources Development Project is part of the Presidency’s strategic integrated projects (SIP 18) that aims to fast-track development and growth across the country, creating jobs and aiding basic service delivery. The media is invited to attend. The program will start at the dam and end with a community address by the President.
