President Jonathan formally declares bid for second term promises to fight insurgency & corruption President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday formally declared that he will seek a second term of office at next year’s general election with a promise to fight corruption and defeat the Islamist Boko Haram insurgency. “After listening to the clarion call of Nigerians, I have accepted to present myself to serve a second term,” Jonathan told cheering supporters at a rally at the Eagles Square in Abuja.
