President Obama is asking the black community to vote for Democrats as a matter of racial solidarity. But the discouraging truth is that, while the economy has been tough on the middle class as a whole, it has been even worse for African Americans. One African American who is fighting the divide-and-conquer strategy from politicians who think that black constituents will automatically pull the lever for Democrats is Elbert Guillory, a state lawmaker from Louisiana.
