President met with Prime Ministers of Romania and Moldova President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta and Prime Minister of Moldova Iurie Leancă. We are neighbors, our relations are being dynamically developed and we are proud that we signed the Association Agreement with the EU at the same day, June 27, the President addressed the Prime Minister of Moldova. Our relations with Moldova have a strategic character, the President emphasized. The Ukrainian President expressed gratitude to both Moldova and Romania for the provision of assistance in healing Ukrainian servicemen wounded in the ATO area. Speaking of relations with Romania, Petro Poroshenko stressed that Ukraine highly evaluated the support of Romania. We must coordinate our positions in the sphere of security and in economic cooperation. We must use all the opportunities provided by the DCFTA with the EU. Romania can become a bridge for Ukraine and Moldova on the way to the EU, the President noted. In his turn, Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta stressed: I want to help you use our positive experience and avoid mistakes Romania have made on its way to the EU. If you avoid them, you will make everything much faster. Believe me, it will be very difficult to prepare the economy for the level of European competitiveness. It will be difficult to preserve jobs and plants that havent been renovated since the USSR. But it is necessary to implement concrete projects and measures for people to understand why they need to move towards Europe. Statements are good but they are not enough. One must reinforce words with actions, he said. The President noted that it would be useful for Ukrainian business to study the experience of Romania in order to operate in conditions of the EUs legislation and competitive environment. In response, Victor Ponta offered the Ukrainian party to establish joint projects for the Ukrainian companies in order to share the experience. According to Romanian Prime Minister, if Ukraine, Moldova and Romania are together, they will be stronger. I think our officials should meet at the high level every 3-4 months, he noted. The interlocutors agreed to use trilateral format in the solution of issues of mutual interest, particularly in the sphere of energy, cross-border cooperation, countering smuggling and illegal movement of persons. president.gov.ua/en/news/31322.html
