Press Release Chai Pe Charcha - Volunteers of GIBV meet to support NaMo Campaign April 5, 2014, Cleveland, OH On Sat April 5, 2014, supporters of BJP Prime Minister candidate Shri Narendra Modi gathered for a cup of tea and a lively discussion on the upcoming ground breaking election in India, under the auspices of the Cleveland, OH chapter of Global Indians for Bharat Vikas (GIBV.org). This election is being conducted in a nine-phase ballot from Apr 7-May 12, with a record 814 million eligible voters. After a short presentation on Modis vision by Prof. Sree N. Sreenath, this diverse group of twenty-five aam aadmis consisting of finance and IT professionals, businessmen, academicians, homemakers, physicians, and, engineers had a lively discussion on the challenges faced by India and the promise that Modis candidature brings to the social and economic spheres. A variety of opinions were expressed with the group totally united in supporting Modis vision of India following his proven record in the past decade of good governance, developing Gujarat and bringing prosperity even to the poorest citizens. Volunteers committed to calling their friends, family and relatives in India to encourage them to vote BJP to get 272+ seat majority and Modi will become the next PM. Some expressed the desire to go to India and participate in campaigning since the last two days of campaigning is determinative. Dr. Subbarao Jayanti, a finance professional, listed three talking points (1) Desensitization to political corruption (2) Neglect of National Defense and (3) Violation of principles of Natural Justice in the proposed Communal Violence Bill. Narayan Vishwanathan, a chemical engineer and professional artist, shared an inspiring poetry from Dushyant Kumar the noted Hindustani poet, still appropriate nearly 40 years after his death. We are conducting Chai pe Charcha in 100 cities across the US mirroring the movement that happened in 1500 locations in 500 cities across India.
