Press Release for residents in the Atlanta area - Six-time Soldier of the Year Will Teach Military Fitness Techniques at Atlanta Area Conference Atlanta, Georgia. – Award-winning international speaker, six-time US Army Soldier of the Year, Master Fitness Trainer, Master Resilience Trainer, Counterintelligence Agent and highly decorated combat veteran Sgt. Ken Weichert (a.k.a. “Sgt. Ken®”), will use his military experience and motivational skills to lead physical and mental resilience workshops during the Empower Fitness Celebration, November 14 - 15 at Life Time Fitness in Sandy Springs, GA. The conference will begin Friday, November 14th at 8 a.m. with Sgt. Ken’s Boot Camp Instructor Certification Course. Through the longest running boot camp program in the United States START Fitness, Sgt. Ken utilizes over 20 years of experience providing safe and effective techniques to help civilians increase stamina, lose weight and gain a positive outlook on life. This certification course is based on Sgt. Ken’s Operation Fit to Fight program, used by the US Armed Forces to increase combat readiness and eliminate post-traumatic stress or combat-related injuries through the use of exceptional fitness instructor training. These workshops include obstacle course training and tactical fitness drills designed using the same specialized equipment Sgt. Ken used to train over 500,000 armed service members. Participants will burn over 700 calories in 60 minutes by engaging their entire body. These drills have proven incredible results in numerous military applications through the success of Operation Fit to Fight. “I would recommend this program to anyone in the fitness industry or just interested in an increased level of personal fitness and awareness,” said Christian Husky from Cincinnati after completing the certification course with Sgt. Ken at the Empower conference in Columbus, Ohio. “The entire program gave new insights and expressed concepts in new ways that will develop my skills dramatically for the future.” “It’s refreshing when you get to encounter motivating instructors that have a passion for what they do and Sgt. Ken inspired me to stay focused on making sure my students will have a great experience,” said Joye Strickland Thomas, attendee of the Empower conference in Dallas, Texas. Weichert, who joined the military in 1989 after a back injury forced him to quit football, cites the military’s fitness regimen as the catalyst for his START fitness boot camp programs and Operation Fit to Fight. “I created the program because I wanted to give back to the military what it had given me—getting me back in shape and being ‘fit to fight’,” Weichert said. Sgt. Ken has served almost ten years of active duty with the Army and over 14 years in the National Guard. He participated in several combat tours of duty and recently graduated top of class at the Advanced Leader Course. Numerous workouts are offered for free online at START Fitness and through the Pentagon Channel’s Fit for Duty programming and podcasts. Empower conferences are designed as places where fitness professionals, enthusiasts and anyone interested in a healthy way of life can learn new skills under the guidance of the country’s best fitness instructors.
