Press release: Statement of the Muslim Brotherhood regarding the end of the bloody referendum in Egypt [16/01/2014] [15:55:41 Mecca] The Muslim Brotherhood appreciates the wonderful position of the Egyptian people, the vast majority of the provinces who boycotted the illegal constitution which was a mixture of the dictates of the military with the minority secular elite and devoted to serve the new bloody military dictatorship. This referendum, which took place in a climate of terror, murder and arrest, not only did the coup leaders killed thousands and arrested thousands of people before, but also killed dozen civilians, and wounded hundreds, and hundreds (in purely peaceful demonstrations) were arrested during the referendums two days . This referendum came on the blood and body parts of thousands of Egyptians, and on the ruins of their own free will, and at the expense of their hopes in the democratic life manifested itself in a dignified five elections and fair referendums after the 25th January revolution, shattered by the treads of tanks, and the ambitions of a handful junta of the military coup. A simple comparison between the referenda in 2012 and 2014 gives a clear picture that the Constitution of 2012 was prepared by an authority elected freely by the people, and in full transparency and freedom for its supporters, opponents and the media. It took place in perfect peace, nobody was injured and the turn out was very high compared with everything that happened in 2014 referendum. The great Egyptian people, who boycotted the illegal and illegitimate 2014 referendum, emphasizes that he respects himself and his will, and clings to his freedom, dignity, sovereignty, and insist on rejecting the coup and the military rule, and refuses to give him any legitimacy. Observatory of Arab rights and freedoms organisation indicated that the rate of participation was around 11.03%, whereas the Egyptian Center for Media Studies and Public Opinion said that the percentage was only 8% on the first day of the referendum. It was also confirmed by the news agency AFP that the numbers that went to a vote on the second day in Cairo was very low. In addition, the percentage of the vote of Egyptians abroad, according to official estimates did not exceed 15%. The Guardian newspaper said that this referendum on the constitution was flawed, and that the Egyptian government controls the referendum amid deadly violence. The Carnegie Institution added that it was not a referendum at all. Nevertheless, we are confident that they will rig the results like it used to be done during the Mubaraks regime. The Egyptian people resolution will only increase due to this great injustice, lies and persecutions and it will increase the effectiveness of struggle of this peaceful revolution until the victory by Gods will and then by the masses who are proud by making the necessary sacrifices, and still and will remain, God willing, until they eliminate the roots of affliction (military coup), and with him the collapse of all what was built on vanity and corruption as it happened to Mubarak, its parliament and illegitimate constitution. .....in that day believers will rejoice (4) In Allahs help to victory. He helps to victory whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Merciful. (5) (Quran: Chapter 30 Verses 4&5) As for those who strive for our sake, We will surely guide them to Our paths, and lo! Allah is with the righteous. ( Quran: Chapter 29 Verse 69) The Muslim Brotherhood On Thursday, 15 Rabi Al awwal 1435, corresponding to 16th January 2014
