Pricy clean up, gold mining mine in Yukon, roughly a billion, the cost, per our auditors warning of Harper Action Plan, & Target basement red tag sale prices of doing business in resources in Canada i.e. a fraction of insurance & or deposits needed to set up shop & do business here (clean up demands by most allies & civilized nations in the event of disaster or money towards their messes), decades outdated by accident or design, having the tax payer take the liability seems to be attractive to companies, corporations & lobby groups, more for them & shareholders, & the risk taken on by all Canadian tax payers. This mine, a billion give or take a few loonies, well a number of loonies that are only in Canada. 1/4 million tons, enough to poison every person on earth. Mine cleaned up so to speak, now tits up & gone under.
