For without you, I am a lesser man. -Celebrate Humanity The Primary Group of Builders, a leading Cebu-based conglomerate in the real estate development industry, continues to push for sustainable community partnership efforts by way promoting sports as a tool for character development in Cebu. The Primary Group together with members of its football club, hosted a football clinic last July 5, 2013 in the Municipality of Alcoy, which aims develop grassroots football among the youth in the town. During the one-day football clinic, almost 150 kids ranging from 8-17 years old from the various schools of Alcoy signed up for basic courses. The Primary Group signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Alcoy Football Club for the donation of various football training equipment, and continuing football development training in support of the Municipality’s Football Development Program. Local Officials led by Mayor Nick De Los Santos, the Vice Mayor, councilors and local Dep-ed Officials turned out in full force for the event. The Province of Cebu, sent Joey Herrera, who is a member also of Cebu FA as representative. The event also featured a friendly match between the SHS-AdC football team and the Alcoy Football Club (Alcoy FC). Players from Primary Football Club also played against Ateneo FFC and Alcoy FC with all matches turning out to be fun and exciting matches with the sizeable audience rooting for its home team from the opening bell. It was indeed a community affair with parents and relatives turning out for the event. Well-meaning and thoughtful residents also did their share with donations for snacks and drinks for the kids who turned up as early as 7 am and left when the event ended mid-afternoon. The activity also served as a venue for reconciliation between the teams and thus, giving way to a unified Cebu football community. Last March, controversy marred the game between the SHS-AdC football team and the Alcoy FC, which resulted in the suspension of players from both teams after the investigation made by the Cebu Football Association. It is only through competition that athletes are able to achieve better results, and Primary Group is more than happy to be a bridge between communities and stakeholders to help attain meaningful social interaction. These activities will allow athletes and spectators alike to interact in an atmosphere of fun and brotherhood in sports.
