Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has urged Singaporeans in Brisbane - TopicsExpress

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has urged Singaporeans in Brisbane to organise activities to celebrate the Republics 50th birthday next year. PM Lee made the call when he met around 270 Singaporeans living and studying in the Australian city on Sunday (Nov 16). He said: Its a special year. If you go back 50 years, we were starting out on a journey, we were determined to do well but we didnt know where we would end and we never imagined that we would be where we are today - successful, prosperous, not without issues which we have to deal with. But overall, a successful, respected, admired country in good standing with the world. We have many activities in Singapore, we also hope that you will organise some activities here in Australia or in Brisbane and we have some funds as well, added PM Lee. So if you have a good idea on how you want to mark the occasion and put in the proposal, I think you have some possibility of getting some support.
