Prime Minister Narendra Modi today directed Army and Air Force and all Departments dealing with supplies of essential commodities to mobilize all resources at their command to help improve situation in flood ravaged Jammu and Kashmir. Official sources said Modi reviewed situation in Jammu and Kashmir at a high level meeting chaired by him and attended among others by Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth, Principal Secretary to PM Nripendra Misra, Additional Principal Secretary to PM, Secretaries of Central Ministries and officials from the Defence forces. Sources said the Prime Minister directed the Cabinet Secretary and all Secretaries to utilize all resources at their command to help Jammu and Kashmir come out of the present tragic situation in which more than 200 people have been killed and many areas of Kashmir were still submerged in waters. He directed officials of the Defence forces to press their maximum men and machinery in service to rescue the stranded people and provide relief to them on war footing. As far as funds were concerned for relief and rescue operations, there is no limit, the Prime Minister said. He asked officials to provide total support to the Jammu and Kashmir Government to enable it ramp-up rescue and relief operations following massive floods in the State and he stressed on the need to quickly reach essential commodities to the affected people. Modi emphasised that immediate attention be given to providing basic necessities like food and water to people severely affected by the calamity. The Prime Minister directed that top priority be given to provision of essential commodities to affected people in Srinagar town.
