Principal Jim Power today announced the appointment of new Middle Years Head Naheed Bardai. Heres his message: As we embark on a new academic year, I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Naheed Bardai as the new Head of the Middle Division, replacing Bernard Lecerf who retired last June. Born and raised in Toronto, Naheed has spent the past nine years at The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, and is currently serving as Principal of the Senior School (Grade 6-12) and Diploma Coordinator. In his current role, he is responsible for strategic planning, curriculum leadership, student and faculty welfare, and professional development. Since The Aga Khan Academy is an International Baccalaureate school, Naheed is also responsible for the school-wide data analysis of all IB and ISA results, university and career counseling and the residential program. He has also served as the dean of students, and as the former head of the humanities department, he introduced the Middle Years Programme to the Academy. He has also been a Theory of Knowledge teacher and examiner, as well as an IB school evaluator. A published journal author, Naheed’s solid experience comes with a strong passion for education and leadership, and in particular, character development. He is also extremely internationally-minded, and loves workingwith youth in helping them to meet their full potential. Naheed holds a Masters of Education in Private School Leadership from Columbia University, a Masters of Arts in Comparative Education from the Institute of Education from the University of London, a Bachelors of Education from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelors Honors in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School at the University of Western Ontario. He says he is excited to return to Toronto with his wife of four years, Edwina. Tune in to this Skype video to hear from him. We are extremely fortunate to welcome such a seasoned and committed educator. Please join me in extending a very warm UCC welcome to Naheed. At this time, I would also like to take this opportunity to express my many thanks to Ian Robinson for agreeing to serve as the interim Middle Years head, ensuring a seamless transition until Naheed joins us at UCC in July 2015.
