[Print] [The President of the United States is talking with the leader of the Soviet Union about an extremely serious matter. This dialouge also applies to how it feels like when Elder Flake calls the Zone Leaders to tell them the baptism they traveled for 3 hours in bus has been cancelled] Do you think that you could turn thesic down a little? [pause] Just... uh, turn down the music, and I can hear you better. [pause] Oh, that`s great. I can hear you coming through. Loud and clear. [[pause] Yes, loud and clear, and coming through fine. [pause] I`m fine too, Dimitri. [pause] Ah, you are fine as well It`s great to be fine... Listen, the reason I`m calling is- [explains a very serious thing that is wrong, and could potentially end the would] ...well, how do you think I feel about it? [pause] Can you imagine how I feel about it, Dimitri? [pause] I`m sorry too, Dimitri. I`m very sorry. [pause] All right, you are more sorry. But I am sorry as well. [pause] Don`t say that you are more sorry than I am, Dimitri, because I am just as capable of being just as sorry as you. So we`re BOTH sorry, agreed? Want to hear firsthand about the missionary field, or start a one-on-one conversation of any sort? Want to hear back from me? I want to hear from all my friends back home! Just send an email [email protected]! And I can receive letters and small yellow envelopes at this address: Elder Chad Flake Misión Argentina Resistencia Entre Rios 435 Resistencia, Chaco 3500 Castilla de Correro #1 Argentina It will take a bit of time (anywhere from 9 days to 6 weeks) for letters to get here, so remember email is usually quicker. Please don´t send me any packages without asking me first. I have very, VERY strict limitations on the number of packages I can receive and the contents of the packages. Talk with my family if you want to coordinate. This week was a bit trying, patience-wise. We`ve had the 14-year-old brother of Gabriel and Nico, Bryan, prepared to be baptized for a while now, and he`s met all the requisites and he`s ready. He doesn`t live in the same house as the rest of his family, but there`s a guy that`s taking care of him (there`s no legal relationship or anything, just a guy taking care of him), and we`ve been teaching him at his house. Bryan is a kid that`s amazing and full of faith. He knows how to choose the right and is our bodyguard in the Primary, which is now almost doubled. Anyways, we`ve prepped him for baptism this Saturday, and he agreed. We kept teaching him, but coming up on Thursday or Friday he had something sort of off about him. We thought perhaps the man with whom he lives with was an obstacle, because while he said he didn`t have any problem with us coming over, he also said he didn`t want to be involved personally an any way. He`s a devoted member of a small evangelical church and wants to teach Bryan the guitar so he can play in his band. Anyways, we carried on the best that we could. We obtained the permission from his mother (She`s very particular about making sure it`s something they want to do before she signs anything, but Bryan said it was something he really wanted to do) and prepped the baptismal font in Resistencia for this Saturday. Remember, Resistencia is one hour away by train, so these things have to be planned very well. We invited all the members... and Jesus to baptize him. Anyways, we passed by Saturday in the morning and went to his house... and nobody was there. His bike was gone, and the door was padlocked This set off alarm bells. We called his parents, and started looking for him in the city, but we couldn`t find him. I prayed pretty dang hard for guidance going to find him, and I felt like we should go back to his house. So we did. We clapped loudly and Bryan appeared at the window and said Hey, how`s it going? We said, Is it normal for the door to be padlocked, and do you have any way to get out? (In Argentina it is customary to put bars on all the windows. This is normal in almost all the houses.) He said no, but the man would return sometime during our studies in the afternoon. We instructed him to knock on our door when he got out. He didn`t come. So we started praying and searching for him again. He wasn`t at his house (The faucet was running and leaking water all over his front yard, but he wasn`t there) Nor at his parent`s house. We finally found him doing yard work at the house of one of his friends. We said, Let`s go! It`s today! He wanted to go another day. We weren`t sure what the obstacle was, but there was something holding him back. Anyways, he said it wasn`t possible to go to Resistencia today because he`d be working until around 7:30... which didn`t exactly thrill us. It was impossible to go to Resistencia and back. So we called and received permission to hold the service in a nearby river. Unfortunately... we couldn`t reach him once again. The man with whom he lives with said that Bryan was grounded. We`ll keep you posted on further details. Oh and one more thing... the primary is going great. The mom is assisting, plans to quit smoking, and we`re working out her marriage situacion. Elder Flake
